Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic Mr. Jan Mládek arrived on the official visit of Nepal on January 29, 2015. It was the first ever visit of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic in Nepal since the establishment of the independent Czech Republic. During the visit that was preceded by a visit to India, the official delegation from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic was accompanied by representatives of 24 Czech companies and a delegation of the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic.
Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Jan Mládek arrived with an official delegation, whose members were among others Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade V. Bärtl or Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic I. Pilný. The business delegation also accompanying the Minister of Industry and Trade during the visit of Nepal consisted of representatives of 23 Czech companies and it was led by the Vice-president of the Chamber of Commerce B. Minář.
The highlight of the visit of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic was signing of the Agreement on Economic Cooperation between the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Finance of Nepal. The Agreement was signed on the Czech side by H.E. Jan Mládek and on the Nepalese side by the Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat. This Agreement is the basic document for broader cooperation in economy and trade between the Czech Republic and Nepal and it also establishes the possibility to set up the joint Czech-Nepalese Committee for Economic Cooperation.
In Kathmandu, H.E. Jan Mládek met with representatives of the Nepalese government, first of all H.E. Sushil Koirala, the Prime Minister of Nepal, and furthermore Dr. R.S. Mahat, Minister of Finance, M. Basnet, Minister of Industry, R.K. Gyawali, Minister of Energy, Sunil Bahadur Thapa, Minister of Trade and Deepak Chandra Amatya, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.
Minister of Industry and Trade Mr. Jan Mládek furthermore attended a business forum organized by the Nepal Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic and the Czech Embassy in New Delhi. During the business forum a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Nepal Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic.
The next item on the agenda of the visit was the signing of an agreement between Aircraft Industries and VR Holdings for further supplies of the L 410 aircraft.
Visit of Minister J. Mládek in Nepal was widely publicized in the local press and all of the above meetings contributed to promote the Czech Republic in Nepal and present the interests of the Czech Republic to cooperate with the Government of Nepal and Nepalese business partners.
