Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Kathmandu organized an exhibition “The Czech Republic – Wonders from the Heart of Europe”, which in forms of posters informed about the Czech history and culture, outstanding personalities and exceptional achievement of Czech people.

This historically first ever exhibition about the Czech Republic in Nepal, created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and presented under the auspices of Honorary Consul of the Czech Republic in Nepal Mr. Vishnu Kumar Agarwal, presented the most valuable moments of Czech history, along with the most beautiful landscapes, extraordinary personalities and architecture and world-famous products and inventions that have earned international fame.

The exhibition was inaugurated on 11 February 2013 in Nepal Art Council in Kathmandu by the Hon´ble Minsiter of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Posta Bahadur Bogati and Director General of the National Museum of the Czech Republic Dr. Michal Lukeš on the occasion of the visit of Czech Business delegation to Nepal on 9 – 12 February 2013, headed by H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Nepal.

The exhibition about the Czech Republic covered all directions where Czechs have been able to display their exceptional abilities. The visitors could learn that Czech Spa are extraordinary rich in the natural therapeutic water springs, mineral water is used for drinking, cures or for bath. Bohemian Crystal became famous for its excellent cut and engraving and brilliant artistic idea. Design of many globally known brands, such as Moser, originated in the Czech Republic. The panels also explained that the first grounded lightning conductor in the world was invented by a Czech priest Prokop Diviš. The word ‘robot’ is also of Czech origin invented by Czech writer Karel Čapek, contact lenses are another Czech invention of Otto Wichterle.

The exhibition was open till 15 February 2013 and was visited by more than 850 people.
