Delegation of Committee of Foreign Affairs of Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Nepal on 3 - 9 June 2014 in order to strengthen bilateral relations.

Delegation of members of Committee of Foreign Affairs of Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic visited Nepal and Bhutan on June 3 – 9, 2014 with the aim of establishing relations with respected members of Constitutional Assembly of Nepal strengthening the bilateral cooperation between Nepal and the Czech Republic.

The 9-member delegation of CFA was led by Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, Chairman of CFA and former Vice Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Czech Republic. Part of the delegation was also Vice-Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament Mr. Petr Gazdík, chairmen of the committee Mr. Pavel Šrámek and Mr. Pavel Holík, Mr. Milan Šarapatka, member of the committee and Secretary of the Committee Mrs. Zuzana Putnářová. The CFA delegation was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Miloslav Stašek, Ambassador of the Czech Republic.

In Nepal, the CFA delegation met with H.E. Mr. Sushil Koirala, Prime Minister of Nepal, H.E. Mr. Subas Chandra Nembang, Hon´ble Chairman of Constitutional Assembly and members of Committee for International Relations and Human Rights of Constitutional Assembly; H.E. Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Pande, Hon´ble Minister of Foreign Affairs; H.E. Ms. Radha Kumari Gyawati and Hon´ble Minister of Energy. The delegation carried out comprehensive dialogue with its Nepalese counterparts on people-to-people exchange, economic and development cooperation and collaboration in education and culture with the view to find new avenues for mutual cooperation.

The CFA also inaugurated on June 4, 2014 the project "In-depth Reporting and Issue Sensitization Training to Emerging Women Journalists in Nepal on Social Issues", implemented by "Conscious Media Forum" organization and financed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. The project is focused on building up the capacity of participants on investigative reporting on social issues such as gender and social discrimination, human rights, marginalization etc.

The Czech delegation also visited the Czech development project of "bamboo school" in Bal Prativa village (Kavre district), built by Czech NGO Namaste Nepal and financed by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, where the Czech delegation handed over the gifts for Nepalese pupils from the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic and Zoo Prague.
